Ocean Oasis – Art Meets Design Interior Design Competition Entry

This is my award winning design from the Art Meets Design Competition.

Grace Lane Smith, is the Canadian Artist whose Ocean paintings were the foundation for the design of this serene and inviting Primary Bedroom Suite. The integration of Ms. Smith’s artistic inspiration, coupled with the calming presence of the ocean, creates a harmonious atmosphere for relaxation and rejuvenation. The use of soft colors, natural materials, and subtle warm tones further enhance the tranquil ambiance, while the incorporation of plants brings a touch of the outdoors inside. I’ve created a thoughtful layout, from the welcoming sitting area, balcony and sleeping area, all with peaceful ocean views. Then through the walk-in closet leading to the spa-like ensuite, ensuring both comfort and convenience.

It’s truly a space designed for unwinding and enjoying the beauty of coastal living.

To quote Ms. Smith, just as her paintings do, I hope this Primary Suite evokes “An invitation to pause, reflect, & find solace”.

The discovery call is a complimentary quick “get to know you call” so I can find out a little little bit more about the project and you can find out a little bit more about me and my process. We will then see if they align and if we’d like to work together. The consultation is a paid service and the next step. We will most likely get together in person (virtual consultations are available) and I will be with you for about an hour and a half to two hours. We will go over all your questions and concerns and I’m able to see the space and offer you my thoughts and suggestions. I can help you with colour selections, and space planning, and if there is a project that you’re wanting to start, I’m able to see what you need and then provide you with a personalized proposal of my services. You can then either take what we’ve done in the consultation and carry on or choose from a variety of ways we can work together including my full service design, one room refresh, virtual design and many à la cart options. So the consultation is really the kick off to your design project, whatever it happens to be.

My personal style is very much a blend of Modern Farmhouse, Midcentury Modern, West Coast and Traditional. I love mixing and matching the old with the new, coziness, neutral backdrops with pops of colour, clean lines, and character. Not minimalist but not maximalist, somewhere right in the middle. 

My favourite classic piece of furniture is the Eams Lounge Chair, I love traditional wall paneling and a big chunky farmhouse table. I love being creative in my space and blending all my favourite pieces together, some trendy, some heirloom! 

With my love of many styles, I can definitely help you achieve the look and feel you’ve always wanted. It’s all about collaboration, attentiveness to your likes and dislikes, creativity, and fun! I have a huge passion for the art of design and can’t wait to share it with you!
